Quips & Anecdotes - Soda Fountains

I had the pleasure the other day of being "kidnapped" for a surprise day out. It consisted of Duc making lunch (whoa, seriously?) and taking me out to a park for a sunny picnic. Then he also wanted to treat me out at an old-fashioned soda fountain. It was seriously way too fun but it also got me thinking as I sat in the soda fountain/drug store about how I hardly see these kind of places around anymore. Couples don't do dates at soda fountains. They don't sit together and share a giant glass of an ice cream float or a bigger-than-you-can-imagine-eating banana split. Granted, we got two separate drinks but that's only because we couldn't resist; I had a cherry vanilla ice cream float and he an orange sherbet malt. Too awesome, I know.

Anywho, I think that we should invest a little bit more time in these places that are still standing around, servicing good ol' historic American eats. We should also take some time out of the day or weekend to sit around and have a fun picnic together, especially as summer approaches. Cheers to those places that still exist to serve both delicious desserts and feel-good-ness! I'll toast to you in the actual champagne flutes Duc brought out for sparkling cider! How you readers been to one of these types of places before?
