I came here just about two weeks ago to snag a breakfast with Duc before heading off to work at the OC Auto Show. The reason for picking this place for some morning eats was a bit of nostalgia. It had been so long since I had been to Kaye's Kitchen - it used to be a regular after-school hangout spot in high school. I remember when it had switched its name over to Main Street Cafe when the owners changed (and some menu items which my friends and I disapproved of) but apparently it's now back in the original owners' family's hands. The place has gotten a bit of a remodeling but the history remains and the good eats!

It had been a while since I had had corned beef hash so I immediately wanted some of that salty goodness. It came with eggs, hash browns, and toast as well. Admittedly, it was a tad saltier than I had wanted but the deliciously-prepared hash browns made up for it when combined. The eggs were just scrambled eggs, which I appreciated. I don't like going to restaurants where they butter up or salt up the eggs and disregard the diner's preferences. I happily seasoned it myself with a bit of salt and ketchup. Toast was a tasty sourdough that was toasted just right with a smidgen of butter on each. I also had an orange juice which wasn't all too great but completed my breakfast.

Duc had the Kaye's Omelette which was a little bit of everything. Cheddar cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, bacon, ham, sausage, and whatever else was thrown in there. It was certainly intense so he only managed to get through half of it before throwing in the towel. I had a bite; it was a glorious omelette indeed. Overall, great kickback and great service (and great prices!). I need to start going here more often since it's back in the family's hands.
